CAMBRIDGE ROAD

MARTINBOROUGH, NEW ZEALAND

Hailing from the stunning Martinborough Terrace on New Zealand's North Island, this special piece of earth was shaped over 20,000 years ago at the confluence of the Huangarua and Ruamahanga rivers, featuring unique geological elements like weathered riverborne sandstone and clay seams. Since 2006, Lance Redgwell has been dedicated to showcasing the true potential of his site through organic, followed shortly after by biodynamic, farming. He is often regarded as the OG of minimal intervention/natural winemaking in the NZ scene.

Originally tending to the vineyard single-handedly, Lance now operates with a small, passionate crew, employing regenerative practices that respect the natural balance of the vines. In the winery, they simply guide the wines as needed, resulting in a pure reflection of the fruit and terroir, with almost no sulphites added and no additives at all. Sourcing fruit from three key sites in the greater Martinborough area, the focus remains on the home block at Cambridge Road. With new varieties and young vines on the horizon, there is so much excitement for what the future holds!
