Johan, a rising star of the new South African wine scene, has developed strong relationships with some of the best grape growers across the Cape over the years. As a result, he has gained access to some of the region’s best fruit and is producing some of the best South Africa can offer. Johan focuses on discovering exceptional parcels of sustainably-farmed (organic and biodynamic in practice) vines grown on a variety of soil types. He vinifies as simply as possible, only adding minimal amounts of sulfur to certain wines at bottling for preservation and stability.

 

Mother Rock’s wines are terroir-focused, offering drinkability and enjoyment, and it doesn’t hurt that the labels are beautiful and depictive of the terroir either.
