WHISPERING HORSE
FRASER VALLEY, BRITISH COLUMBIA
The first time I met Melissa Giesbrecht and Laurent Fadanni some moons ago, they so graciously welcomed me into their home where we tasted through their (first? second?) vintage of wines on their beautiful vineyard-facing terrasse. I was lucky to get a walk-through of their home-based vineyards, cellar, future tasting room, and even their home they so warmly invited me into. Recounting these memories now makes me so nostalgic of a time where we could do this freely with strangers. Back then I had no idea what the future held, but I am so honoured we have partnered up so I may now share their love, hard work, and Fraser Valley gems with you in the Lower Mainland & Okanagan.
Tucked away at the foot of Vedder Mountain in Yarrow, BC, Whispering Horse is a small, family-run winery with deep roots and a refreshingly hands-on approach. What started as a passion project on the historic J-Bar Ranch has quietly grown into one of the Fraser Valley’s hidden gems. Here, the focus is on minimal intervention and maximum character. The estate vineyard is farmed with care and intention, with a mix of classic and hybrid varieties that thrive in the unique microclimate. Wines are made thoughtfully and in small lots—fermented with native yeasts, aged slowly, and bottled when they’re good and ready. The result? Bright, textural wines that reflect both the land and the laid-back spirit of the family behind them. Whispering Horse is a place where tradition and experimentation ride side by side—and where quality is always the priority.
